William Blake Play – Burning Bright – May 8th 2012

England 1800 – a dangerous and uncertain time! The armies of the New World in America are fighting for independence against the British Crown, and Napoleon is advancing across Europe. Riots are taking place in London. Fear, mistrust and suspicion lurk in every corner of the land. WILLIAM BLAKE, engraver, illustrator and visionary poet accepts a commission by his patron William Hayley and moves from London to a cottage in Felpham.
However, it is in this small West Sussex coastal town that an unfortunate encounter sees him being charged with High Treason – under the penalty of death!
A rehearsed reading of a new play by John Ashworth, performed by professional actors from Equity.

The Venue In the mid 1980s, Shri Mataji held a Sahaja Yoga puja at that Hampstead Town Hall, the location for play on the 8th of May. Additionally, many Sahaja Yoga public programmes over the years took place at this same venue. The surrounding area itself is very highly charged with vibrations: Within five minutes walking distance there were many Sahaja Yoga events held at the Temple of All Faiths, and nearby also is the Friends Meeting House, location of the regular Thursday Hampstead programme, which Shri Mataji personally graced countless times.
The play is in two acts, with a 20 minute interval between.
