About the meditation and classes

Free Meditation Class in Notting Hill

Free Meditation Class in Notting Hill

The meditation is based on connecting with our inner chakras (also referred to as nerve-plexuses and energy centres) and balancing our subtle body (also known as the Sympathetic, Parasympathetic and Central Nervous Systems) by a spontaneous awakening of an energy residing in the Sacrum Bone known as the Kundalini (also referred to as Primordial Mother).

The tradition and aim of Sahaja Yoga Meditation is explained – which, in essence, is to be in the present, with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future. This is achieved by the spontaneous awakening of the Kundalini by practicing Sahaja Yoga Meditation and it manifesting throughout the many nerve-centres and channels of the body, culminating in the experience spoken of throughout history – and also recently within scientific and medical circles – as mental silence.

In many Eastern traditions and practices, it is believed that these chakras (translating to ‘wheel’ in English), when awakened, are responsible for connecting to what famous psychologist Carl Jung referred to as the ‘Collective Consciousness’ – or, in other and more ancient contexts, the source of true Enlightenment.

Short, guided meditations with affirmations are used to clear and balance the subtle body to enable the silence of meditation to be experienced. During the meditation, participants sit on a chair or on the floor, whichever is their preference (with shoes removed to connect with the Mother Earth) with hands on their laps.
